Light of the World

Light of the World

Our Light of the World display hangs prominently in our worship center to remind everyone about the mission Jesus has given to His church—to make disciples of all peoples. But it all begins with the proclamation of the Gospel. Our goal is to make 130 Gospel presentations over the next year!

We know that Jesus has entrusted his church with sharing the truth about Him in a lost and hurting world. In one of His very last statements to His disciples, Jesus promised them, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” We often doubt this promise and act as if we have not received power from the Holy Spirit. We worry more about what people think of us than about what God thinks of us. We pray far too little that God would open doors for us to share the Gospel with a friend. Despite our human weaknesses, the Holy Spirit has truly empowered us for the task at hand.

Our desire is to become a church, where every member actively shares the Gospel with his or her family members, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. And so, begin by identifying people in your life who need to hear the Gospel. As you identify individuals, begin to pray for them, praying the Holy Spirit would convict them of their sin and make them open to hearing the Gospel. Also, remember to pray for yourself, that you would have boldness to sit down and speak the truth with the person God puts on your heart.

Last, remember that we do the work of sharing Jesus together. Although God is giving you opportunities to share the Gospel with a friend or family member, the church is still working together, as well. We will pray for you as you share the good news. We will have church services and community events to invite your friends. Remember, we can accomplish much more together than we can apart!
